If you know me then you know my hair is almost always out.
I have been natural all my life and only recently (in 2020) started doing protective styles on my hair. So for 20 years I have been wearing my natural curls out in wash and go forever!
So it’s safe to say that I have mastered my wash-and-go routine, and with that I have narrowed it down to the best products to use for my wash days.
The wash-and-go hairstyle is very popular in the natural hair community and a great way to show curl definition on your natural texture without the use of heat.
It has been my default style as it has come through for me on several occasions on wash day when I had no clue what to do with my hair.
If you don’t think a wash-and-go on your type of curly hair is possible, I am here to tell you you’re probably just not using the right products.

If you hate air drying your hair, a good diffuser will be your best friend.
I love this Conair diffuser attachment, it does a good job, is super affordable, and has helped reduce my frizz severely.
Conair Hair Dryer
You obviously need a blow dryer to go with your diffuser.
I was a bit hesitant to buy this hair dryer, but after I saw a couple of reviews plus the price point, I was sold.
Fast drying time and is super light weight so your arm won’t get tired while diffusing. It’s perfect.
If I could change one thing, I would love for the cord to be a few inches longer but just get an extension cord and you’re good.
Wide Tooth Comb
Need I even as anything?
A wide tooth comb is an absolute must for any curly girl, detailing is so much easier with one of these and you don’t run the risk of snapping off your hair as much.
Silicone Hair Scalp & Shampoo Brush
Every wash day should focus not only on the hair but the scalp as well, so a shampoo brush is a must.
Not only should you use it during the pre-shampoo process, but also during the shampooing itself to really get into the scalp and stimulate the blood flow.

Other honorable mentions that aren’t necessary for the wash-and-go process itself but will help you are of course a silk pillowcase to help preserve your wash-and-go.
